#145 – Media Circus

Photo taken: April 8, 2010

Don’t you just hate it when you wake up in the morning and look out your window to see there’s a news crew in your backyard?  What, you mean that’s never happened to you before!?!?  Well, lucky me then, I guess.  To the left are a news reporter and cameraman for the local Channel 4 news station… and to the right is my busybody neighbor from the next street over showing said news crew the aftermath of the city’s botched attempt to maintain the neighborhood ditch after years of fighting between city and homeowners.  I had just moved in the year before and unknowningly settled in to Ground Zero of this turf war between City Hall and angry neighbors.  You can check out my full post on this sideshow here…. but if you’ll excuse me now, the crack reporter just knocked on my door and wants to get an interview with me and my bedhead…

I feel blessed that I’ve never found a news crew anywhere near me. You are a lucky squirrel, indeed.

    • I am very lucky that my parents didn’t watch that news station, so they missed their son’s inglorious “outraged neighbor” interview that was given less than ten minutes after I woke up. I did not look fabulous, nor did the reporter offer to share his stage makeup with me…

That is so cool! My friend went home to find FBI banners all over her street. The nice Korean couple were running a brothel…

  3. So that ditch of yours actually made the news once upon a time?! Very impressive…..Mr. Nosy Neighbor probably was upset that when the news crew arrived to photograph things the ditch was actually CLEAN and CLEAR. The reporter looks like he’s just staring down at the ditch thinking “how can I make this an interesting story?????”………..

    • He called them out to show off how they turned my backyard into the aftermath of a war zone. Note the patches of torn up ground under where they’re standing. And there are even better pics of the battle scars in the original post I linked to. It shows how much I care for my yard that I didn’t even care the city tore it up with their cleanup effort…

At least they weren’t there because they’d found a body in the ditch. Or maybe they did…

  5. Work it…work it! You could be the next big thing with alarming good looks on camera. 😊
