An Oldie But Cutie

2014 says hi!

Along with featuring the natural beauty of my favorite species, one of the hallmarks of my long running Saturday Squirrel series was the storytelling that went along with each adorable photo I posted.  I’ve already told so many entertaining and educational tales of the squirrels I’ve captured since SS was launched in late 2012, that sometimes it seems there isn’t much left I haven’t covered already.  With my squirrel photo archive rarely getting any new blood these days, it’s given me the chance to go back and find some of the pictures that fell through the cracks when my standards for this series were much higher than they are today.

So, check out this cute little Saturday Squirrel from June of 2014 as he peeks over the tree bark at his audience…. while also possibly using it to scratch an itch on his cheek…

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. He is a cutie…….I like his brown spot on his nose…..gives him what we’d call a “distinctive feature”.

    Love this cutie!

  5. He looks like he’s been caught doing something he shouldn’t be, but he’s adorable either way. 👍😎

  6. draliman says:

I bet he’s looking at that thinking “what was I thinking back then with that fur-style? It’s sooo 2014.”

  7. Funny the good stuff you find in the archives. Well done.

  8. Trisha says:

Awwwww, it’s so adorable! And such a pretty photo too.

  9. I think he’s definitely scratching since that looks like poison ivy on the other side of the tree (in the foreground). Leaves of three?

    • I don’t know… I don’t ever remember having poison ivy, though I guess I may not be allergic to it. I’ve traipsed in that crap enough while mowing the lawn that I’d have probably had it by now…

  10. Mr (Ms?) squirrel looks a tad pissed off and seems (to me) to be saying “Aw f*ck off. I was enjoying a PRIVATE moment until YOU came along with your huge hands and cameras and bothered me.’ It’s a great photo though.

  11. I think he is the first cousin of my crowd! Love his face. it looks so familiar. I actually MISS my squirrels. I miss chatting with them every morning!
