While it may not been a year of smiles for you, for the last Saturday Squirrel of 2020 we’re going out on a very happy note by featuring this chipper chap I ran into at the park a couple weeks ago! Not all squirrels view me with a screwed up face and try to run away from my camera. He looks warm, fuzzy, and ready for the long winter ahead… which he appears ready to cheerfully embrace!
Have a great weekend everyone!
What a lovely fellow. We had a grey yesterday though he wasn’t nearly as photogenic.
Most of them aren’t. You gotta find that one who’s cooperative about mugging for the camera…
Now that is one happy squirrel – I see a bit of a smile – perhaps the joy of finding a satisfactory snack….or perhaps because he’s heard about the guy with the camera wandering around and wants to be in the next Squirrel Calendar? At any rate, I like him- he makes me smile.
Pam
He’d be a sure bet to be considered for a squirrel calendar. I should round up some of my best smiling squirrel pics someday. I get more confused and angry looks than smiles like this guy…
He looks like he has something to say to you, but he is too shy. Really cute!
At least he wasn’t shy for the camera…
Aww! It’s so kind of him to offer to share! 😉 He does look very snug in his warm squirrel coat, a lovely fellow!
Very snug. And a good thing that our warm November didn’t keep those coats from growing, because it’s freezing now!
Squirrels always put a smile on my face. I don’t see any at our new digs but I am collecting acorns next year to see if I can lure some to the green space next to our house!
Hopefully you will find them… or they find you! We had very few squirrels where I grew up… and now that I have plenty where I live now, I’d never want to go back to where the squirrels aren’t.
He’s a cutie. 🙂 Happy weekend to you!
Thanks!
Happy last weekend of the year. Is that I subtle smile I detected on his face? I’m smiling too just thinking about sending 2020 into the dumpster bin.
I don’t know if squirrels know how to be subtle…
Good point. They’re more the bash you over the head kind of critter.
Awwwww. What a perfect squirrel portrait.
It is, and it’s also a lesson in persistence in squirrel photography. I took about five pictures of this guy, and this was the only one that turned out even remotely good. Their heads go up and down much faster than my camera can account for…
So appropriate! Ken made me a calendar for Christmas as he always does, of photos throughout the year, and May is that adorable baby black squirrel!
YES! And May is an excellent choice, as he deserves to be admired for a full 31 days!
He’s a cutie! He does look very calm and like he has a pleasant temperament. Of course, my current bunch have a sweet, innocent look but they’re all little hellions, constantly trying to chase each other off and getting in to everything. Still, I’d trust this little guy to take a peanut out of my hand!
I’ll bet that squirrel with one ear trusted this guy too! He may look sweet and innocent and docile… but it’s a tough city park!
He seems very happy with his Christmas nuts…
It’s a good thing he didn’t get a visit from the nutcracker…
Easy, breezy, beautiful…cover squirrel!
