Squirrel On A Wire

I captured this little guy out in my backyard this morning. Him and one of his buddies were playing around by my telephone pole out back when I went outside with the camera, and while the quick thinking one got away from the evil human, his furry friend was not as fortunate. I had been wanting to get a “squirrel on a wire” picture for a while now, and this rodent was the lucky one who gets to star in one of my blog posts. Stranded by himself, he wasn’t sure what to do next or what would lead to a safe getaway, and he scampered back and forth across the wire, and up and down the pole, before finally high-tailing it (literally) back down the wire and towards my neighbor’s tree, where I believe my neighborhood squirrels actually have their nest. I kept worrying he’d trip the transformer and end up like two of his (Graphic Photo Warning!) dearly departed companions who caused explosions and blackouts before… but luckily for both of us, this spooked critter kept his cool and didn’t fry himself…
