Just thought I’d drop a quick post to let my many followers know that I’m still alive. I don’t like going without posts between editions of my comic, but this is that dreaded week following a vacation week that always drags me to the ground and beats me to a pulp.
Most people enjoy going on vacations. If you haven’t figured it out by now, though, I am not most people. I’m a notorious creature of habit, and when I get out of my routine, I am done for. By the time I reach my destination, I’m usually ready to go home again.
I mentioned Detroit when I introduced last week’s comic, and that’s where my annual September baseball trip took me. Two days, two games, then one day of driving home. That’s three days out of my comfort zone, which is about 72 hours too much for my poor, sheltered soul to take. I even added insult to injury by making a 40 mile detour down country state roads to visit Olney, IL (if you don’t know why I went there, look the town up, it isn’t hard to figure out) only to end up disappointed.
Nine nights off work, three of them on the road, and I am still recovering. It generally takes a week for me to get back to my old self, especially when it comes to sleep (I am one of those people whose body will not allow me to write off any part of a sleep deficit, I always eventually have to pay it back) and hopefully I can come up with something a bit more entertaining than this in a few days. Just five more months until my next week off! I can hardly…. ZZZZZZZZZZZ
Hello! Long time reader, infrequent commenter… (lol)
I’m curious, did you go to Olney for the white squirrels? That was the second link that came up when I Googled the city.
🙂
Glad to see you’re still alive Ms. Filly! I replied to your question below….
The problem for me with Vacations is that Vacations seem like hard work and my work and various projects are such fun. On that note it is the school holidays here and I am having a “vacation” soon too. I too would like to hear more of your Olney ? white squirrel story.
LOL, not much to say about the Olney side-adventure other than it involved an hour and a half of extra driving I didn’t need to tack on to my trip, and an hour of “WTF did I come here for anyway?” Indeed, it was the famous white squirrels I hoped to see, and on my way out of town, I believe I figured out why I struck out. I will be back though when I can actually spend the day there as its only about a 120 mile trip from where I live, and there will be a post about it!
I hope you are able to get the sleep you need soon. I am the same way when it comes to having to pay all my sleep deficits back.
I did indeed, even Tuesday when it stormed literally all day long! Everyone at work just looks at me funny when I’m yawning after getting 10 hours sleep, but with no kids or coffee addiction, my body never learned to go without sleep. ZZZZZZZZ
WOW. I’m so glad I clicked on your thing! I can”t even remember how I ended up here… OH YEAH! Normal for Norfolk’s Unicorn riding Squirrel post. I thought I was nuckin futs! I heart you so many!
Thanks! I love your blog as well!
