The Mecca Kitties

Wait a minute… I’m not rusty!!!

And now for something completely different….

I was looking through some old files of mine and found the pictures of a litter of kittens that spent the first few weeks of its life on our Lawn & Garden patio at the Mecca I work at back in June of 2010.  This is something I could have used for one of my non-squirrel Saturday posts last month, but since I didn’t and thought it would be a nice break from my usual goofiness I post here at The Nest, today I present to you The Mecca Kitties!

Hey! Could we get customer assistance by the lawn mowers, please?

There were four kittens and mama, as well as a lingering black cat whose fatherhood would be questionable given that the kittens were all some flavor of orange tabby.  I took these pictures the night before a rescue cat lady came to pick them up before the store management could find more forceful ways to rid the premises of these furry little trespassers.  While pets that end up in workplaces are generally not welcome by the brass, you can bet that the employees will assure that the unwelcome guests are the best fed animals in the world!

Nomnomnom….

As tempting as it may have been to adopt one myself, I already had the growing boys Ody and Spilly, and was at my maximum feline capacity of two.  While I’ve never heard anything else about the Mecca kitties after they were relocated, I do hope they all found good homes….

Enjoy the pictures!

Mama cat chilling out.

Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

There was one almost white kitten in the quartet, and it was so shy! Here it is hiding under a pallet of charcoal.

Ummmmm… are you my Daddy?

Am I cute enough for you?

Mommy, can I haz the nipple instead?

Backrubz!!!!!

I can’t read it, but I’ll bet it’s kitty food for me!

Go away kid before I fry you with my laser eyes!

When you hang out at a store that’s manned 24/7, there’s no end to the loving you get….

Now where oh where is that shy little white kitteh……?

Peekaboo!!!!

Aw, you have gone beyond the call of cuteness with this post, ES. I love cats, as you know. White kitteh! Your captions are funneh.

I wouldn’t rule out the black cat being the other kitteh’s father. Redheads/gingers are recessive you know.

(yes, I am a science-dork redhead, why do you ask?)

    • If Bob Barker is reading this, I hope he turns away for a moment…..

When I was a kid, we had a female torty who bred with our male black cat…. um, quite a few times over the five years we had them together. We saw pretty much every style cat you could imagine in that time. A few of the litters seemed to spit out a lot of orange or gray tabbies, but most included at least one black or tuxedo cat. The randomness of getting four cats of identical style out of a breed assuming mixed parents is kinda wild… but it is possible.

OK Bob, you can turn back around now….

What a fun post! I know what you mean about being at max kitty capacity. I adopted a preggo momma that popped out 5 adorable babies. No one wanted to adopt so I guess I’m at my max now too! Great pics. Thanks for sharing!
