It’s a shame I haven’t been taking advantage of the unusually warm weather we’ve had this February to take more squirrel photos… but at least I have such a voluminous archive of shots from the past five years that I could cruise on auto pilot for the rest of the decade if I so desired. Here’s a three year old photo I pulled up that strikes me as very unusual. The grass, both in the foreground and background, is in almost perfect focus. Yet the squirrel is very out of focus and motion blurred. The stance it’s in is also peculiar…. almost like a pounce or maybe a vertical leap rather than the typical squirrel hop. The effect of the blurred squirrel over the clear background creates a bit of an illusion that maybe he’s disappearing or reappearing…. and perhaps even got caught off guard by this teleportation given his strange body language!
Our Saturday Squirrel is off to go where no sciurine has gone before…. whether he wanted to or not!
Have a great weekend everyone!
bet it is a girl and it saw a spider… my mam does the same … but not as elegant as the squirrel :o)
It is hard to top the elegance of a squirrel, even when it has the pee scared out of it…
This one is a blur of poetic movement, Bill. Like a ballet dancer. 🙂
I’m not sure what he’d look like in a tutu… probably get scuffed up on the tree!
Elegant and artistic. I like it! Happy weekend to you and your Sciuridae of jumpers. 🐿
Elegant, artistic and abstract!
You need a fast lens to capture that guy 🙂
My crappy camera would probably even make a turtle blur…
Love those action packed squirrels!
Action, adventure, comedy, even romance…. they’re better than the Oscars.
This is because NASA is back with brand new Go For The Skies stuff. Clearly, your squirrel on on the way to being the Next NASA Squirrel!
He might want to read the fine print before he signs on the dotted line to become the next squirrelonaut. That and look up the history of Laika and all the other late, great space animals that came before him….
“Faster than a speeding squirrel….more powerful than a locomotive……etc.”……this guy is probably practicing for the squirrel-o-lympics! Looks like a long jump champ to me!
Now there’s an Olympics I would watch! The arboreal gymnastics event would be some of the best entertainment on TV…
UFOs had better not be beaming up and stealing our squirrels! Hm, maybe that’s what happened to the ones around here that were reduced to an inside out pelt….
Eeeeeeew, I don’t want to know! Now I’ll be thinking about squirrels on spaceships being probed on by curious aliens…. actually, that might make a great plot for SCT!
You just need a flying saucer for your shelf!
