The wild streets of suburbia…
Today’s Saturday Squirrel may very well set a record for being the most far away and tiniest image of them all. You can just barely make out the telltale squirrel profile shape in the upper left corner of this photo. No doubt, you also noticed that this week’s sciurine 
guest is not alone as he takes a moment to munch of something in the middle of my street. While he doesn’t have to worry too much about getting crushed by vehicular traffic on my small cul-de-sac, there are still a number of dangerous forces out there that he might want to pay close attention to…. like, say, that cat in the foreground that seems to be eying up its next meal.
That’s our good friend Sewie (aka Buddha) surveying the situation to the right there. Sewie doesn’t just play a feared squirrel hunter on my blog, but from what I’ve heard, is actually an experienced rodent wrangler with at least one documented kill notched on his food bowl. While there’s still plenty of distance between these two critters from different spots on the food chain, it might serve our squirrel here well to take note of his surroundings and formulate an emergency escape route should it become necessary…

Evil Squirrel's Nest 
Teddy has figured out that no matter how hard he tries, the squirrels will out-run and out-climb him any old day so now he just WATCHES them. I’m glad he doesn’t try to hunt them because I love watching the squirrel antics – we have TONS of trees which equals TONS of squirrels so “never a dull moment”.

That is one area where I think cats are smarter than dogs is that a cat will not waste its time with impossible endeavors, whereas the dog always thinks that THIS TIME will be different!

Mmm, free-range possum meat.
I’m sure the squirrel will be okay. Squirrels can climb whereas cats… oh, wait…
True…. but have you ever heard of the fire department needing to be called to rescue a squirrel from a tree?
Free range possum meat might make a great special in our local grocery! Why go hunting for possums when you can buy it all neatly cut up in the super, eh?
My cats never tried to take on a squirrel. They were more inclined to bugs. Flies, especially.
I’m sure choice possum cuts look just mouth watering! Probably more appetizing than bug parts… and I’ve watched Ody catch and immediately gobble down a cricket before. Once he barfed it back up, he decided they weren’t quite his taste to begin with….
Can’t we all just get along?
I guess we must live with fighting like cats and squirrels….

I’ll scold him next time he shows up at the door, but I’m sure Sewie will just give me that “Talk to the ass” maneuver…
