One square on my squirrel photo bingo card that had long eluded me was “squirrel on a roof.” The critters can certainly find their way onto a roof, even when it’s not easily accessible via trees like mine has been the past three-plus years. But despite how many times I saw a squirrel up on the roof, as The Drifters once sang about, I either had no camera or couldn’t get the shot.
That changed on a late Fall afternoon in 2020 when I poked my head out the front door and noticed a squirrel strolling around on my next door neighbor’s roof. I ran to get the camera, and was delighted that he not only hadn’t already run away…. but he stuck around to give me a whole handful of entertaining photos of his rooftop exploits! The most interesting of which was scrounging up some dinner out of……. ew…… the leaf-clogged gutters!
A very happy, if a bit icky squirrel who’s not afraid of a little adventure in dining! The perfect entry as my 27th favorite Saturday Squirrel of all time….
Great shots! Although that clogged gutter makes me twitch….
Ha! I think you made that same comment when I originally posted these!
And it’s still twitch worthy.
😉
love it… my granny said when I’m still that lazy in school I once will eat the grass from the gutter… well… it seems the squirrel likes it, so it isn’t bad LOL
It makes squirrels grow big and strong and gives them hair on their nuts!
What a clever little squirrel! He also makes a point about cleaning gutters! You can thank him for that!
I wish they’d clean my gutters, but they just pick out the acorns and leave!
I see some training in the future – bury acorns deep in the leaves and make them dig them out!
Moochers are the same whether it’s up on the roof or at Golden Corral. They don’t want to give up their seats.
If I found a free buffet, I wouldn’t be giving up my seat either!
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, that’s awesome!
Very fun to watch!
A clogged gutter is not just like visiting the local burger joint for a snack but much like Home Depot where building materials are abundant!
Pam
Building materials for both nests and layers of fat….
The restaurant with a great view.
Lucky guy. I wish I could find a gutter round here clogged with kebabs or something…
Maybe you’re prowling around the wrong neighborhoods. Try the rich part of town…. their gutters are probably loaded with steak and chileh…
