This Is The Big One!

If you observe squirrels as much as I have over the last few years, you begin to recognize sqturday squirrel logomany of their signature moves that lead to oft repeated poses.  You’ve probably seen many photos of squirrels with both of their arms folded up towards their chest… I’ve featured quite of few like that on my blog.  Less common is when a squirrel does this action half-assed, and only lifts one arm up to its breast.  My most celebrated early Saturday Squirrel photo, and the pic I immortalized in this feature’s logo you see off to the right there, is the “Who, Me?” squirrel… and that is exactly how he is gesturing.

Today’s spotlight squirrel is trying his darndest to imitate my most famous weekend sciurine, but doesn’t seem to be doing a very good job of it.  He looks more like he might be trying to imitate something else…

Maybe I'm just reciting the Pledge of Allegiance... did you consider that?

Ummmmm, aren’t you supposed to have your right paw over your heart, then?

Is this better?

Is this better?

Very much so… now you look like a Saturday Squirrel!  With walnut trees, and acorns for all!

Have a great weekend everyone!

In secret circles that’s a sign recognizing the ‘hidden hand’ behind all things. 😃

  2. It is a Napoleon Bonaparte move- when he was reaching for his flask… 🙂

  3. draliman says:

Maybe he’s got a poorly tummy :-(. Ate some bad nuts.

  4. NotAPunkRocker says:

Yes, I immediately thought of Fred Sanford/Redd Foxx when I read the title.

I agree with draliman though, maybe he was just feeling yucky?

  5. Nice to be back on saturday to enjoy this furry creature in a strange pose. May be he is feeling all bloated up like humans.

  6. He is saying the Pledge of Allegiance. A very patriotic squirrel!

  7. He’s cute. I am always enchanted by their antics no matter the pose.

  8. gentlestitches says:

awww patriotic squirrel. “Oh hey can you see……” ❤

That is one extra-extra cute squirrel! That is an odd pose though. I’ve seen them do the half-assed chest hug but their little “arms” are usually more curled than straight. Maybe the poor little fellow did have a tummy ache.
