Be Aware!!!

There's 1,001 uses for a squirrel.

There’s 1,001 uses for a squirrel.

It’s almost October, and that means it’s everyone’s favorite month of the year!  Yes, as always, October is Squirrel Awareness Month!  Thirty-one wonderful days set aside each year to better appreciate our bushy tailed little friends out there!  C.K. Hope has gotten a jump start on her squirrel awareness by finding a creative but practical way to take advantage of what a squirrel has to offer!

If there is one thing I would like people who stop by to read my tripe posts to take away from my blog, it is awareness of our sciurine pals.  Squirrel Appreciation doesn’t hurt either, but that only gets one day in the middle of January.

How NOT to appreciate a squirrel.

How NOT to appreciate a squirrel.

Of course, October is probably best known for being Breast Cancer Awareness Month…

Blaze has that covered!

  1. Amazing isn’t it? A friend of mine found a site that lists all that, um, nutty stuff. Oh, as far as being aware – you might want to go to my blog and check something out . . .

  2. Mental Mama says:

Congrats on the Sparkle Pony Award. 🙂

  3. merbear74 says:

A worthy opponent you are, ES. Take good care of my poneh. My..little…poneh…
King Limpy!! I need to add that to my blog.
    National chili month TD!!!

  4. PigLove says:

Oh my – we have a lot to be thankful for huh? Snorts XOXO – Bacon

  5. The Cutter says:

And here I was thinking I was going to have an uneventful October!

  6. Shana Rae says:

Don’t forget it’s also Stoptober, https://stoptober.smokefree.nhs.uk/, the most stupid idea I’ve heard, I shall smoke double the amount just to spite them, and pay due homage to squiggles instead, squiggles being what I call squirrels, ok I’ll just wander off quietly now before I make a complete a$$ of myself!

    • I’m not sure if we have a whole month dedicated to stopping smoking here in the US, but we do have the Great American Smokeout every November 19th. The obscenely high taxes on smokes and widespread bans on smoking in public places have been more of a detterent to American smokers than some silly month…

  7. C.K. Hope says:

Bats get a whole month and squirrels only get one day? Inconceivable I say! For the softness of their tails against sniffly sneezy noses alone they should get a week at least!

Congratulations on winning Sparkle Pony! I think … 😉

    • The squirrel lobby is not as good as the bat lobby is. That’s just the nature of the political game…

Thanks you! I wonder if Sparklepony’s tail is as soft and snottable as a squirrel’s….? 😉

  8. ksbeth says:

i think you’ll be proud to know that the university of michigan, here in ann arbor, and my alma mater, was recently voted the most ‘squirrel obsessed campus’ in the country. i find it to be a great honor.

    • I remember Michigan had some kind of squirrel lovers club on campus, I saved an article I saw about it in the paper about 4 years ago. It’s great to see our youth have a fine appreciation for our urban wildlife!

  9. gentlestitches says:

I am already thinking of what a baby rainbow “ponkey” would like like. 🙂

  10. gentlestitches says:

I reckon you are right! 🙂

  11. Happy Squirrel Awareness Month! All of our neighborhood squirrels have returned to our balcony since the tragic tree trimming of 2013. And it looks like a few of the girls are preggers! We’re soon to be great-grandparents. Now I just need to clean the glass on the sliding doors so I can get some decent photos of our brood for you.

  12. draliman says:

Did somebody say chilli? Mmm, chilli.
Congrats on winning the Sparkling Poneh. You were a worthy opponent! Until vee meet again, Mr Bond, I mean ES 🙂
