You May Already Be A Winner

fanny award

I have been quite fortunate in getting some cool stuff during my relatively brief time running this blog.  I have had the beautiful Rainbow Donkey doll bestowed upon my by Jennifer, and the squeefuly cute Sponkies sent to me from across the world by Aunt Sharon.  I’ve also been fortunate enough to win the Sparky contest Alice hosted to receive the gaudy Sparklepony, and just recently took home one of five signed copies of Matt’s Fauxpocalypse books he offered up in contests he held last week.  Not a bad haul…

Fuck yeah!

Fuck yeah!

Of course, you are no doubt asking when I will kindly take my turn to be on the giving end of the blogosphere… besides all those side splitting laughs I seem to accidentally come up with here that I dish out at no cost.  Well, the truth is I have been trying to think of some kind of giveaway to host for a while now, but between coming up with crappy ideas and my usual procrastination, no contest has seen the light of day on this blog….

Until now….

drum roll

Drum roll please, Hottie…

Announcing, Evil Squirrel’s Nest’s First Annual Contest Of Whatever!  Yeah, the name is stupid… like I said, I haven’t really put much thought into it… much like most of the other ideas I post about here…

squirrel corner

Thinking iz hard…

This is a contest anyone out there with a blog can enter!  We can’t have a contest without a prize now, can we?  Don Pardo, tell our contestants what they could win…

arcade crane game

Cheap stuffed animals!

No, actually, the prize will be any one item of your choice from my CafePress store that is valued at $20 USD or less.  That is enough to get one of my designs on a T-shirt, a coffee mug, a throw pillow, even a thong!  The choice is entirely up to you, should you be so lucky as to win….

So, what do you have to do to enter the contest?

Here comes the red tape...

Here comes the red tape…

Actually, it’s quite simple… it merely requires one of my favorite traits in a person… creativity!  I want you to create something.  It can be in any art form imaginable… a drawing, a painting, a poem, short fiction, a diorama, a shadow puppet play, a feature length movie, ice sculpture…. the only limits to this contest are the boundaries of your imagination!

angel mbrs stoned

Which in some cases may be expanded beyond normal capacity…

OK, there are a few particulars I want in your creative project.  Your entry for this contest can have any subject matter you so desire…. but it must include at least one each of the following…..

A squirrel

A squirrel

possum

A possum

And a unicorn!

And a unicorn!

That’s not too hard, is it?  In fact, you may feel free to incorporate any of my characters you wish into your project, so long as the overall theme of your entry is an original idea of your own.

Please post your contest entries on your blog, and make sure to include a link to THIS POST so that I can easily find and keep track of all the contest entries via the pingbacks your posts will leave!  All entries must be posted no later than 7:00 AM Central Standard Time on Sunday February 23, 2014!  That gives you about 3 weeks to have a little fun with this!

Do what Hottie says!

Just do what Hottie says, and nobody gets hurt!

On that Sunday, I will post links to all of the entries, and then on Monday morning February 24th, I will choose TWO winners who will each get their own $20 or less prize from my store (and possibly even a nifty blog badge, should I get around to making one).  Yes, two winners!

The first winner will be the entry I think is the best overall.  I will not play favorites (though feel free to suck up all you wish… I do like it even if it will get you nowhere!), and I may even seek some outside opinions to get a feel for who did the best job creating their contest entry.  After choosing the winner on merit, I will then take all of the other entries and hold some form of a random drawing for the second winner.  This means everyone has a shot being one of the winners in this contest, even if you underestimate your own creative genius….

The contest is MINE!

The contest is MINE!

So, there you have it!  Start working on those creative entries… and don’t forget to include the squirrel, possum, and unicorn!  I’ll post reminders every so often during the next three weeks.  Hopefully, my first contest will be something that will be a lot of fun for everyone out there who plays along, as well as add to my amazement at some of the extremely creative people I happen to have befriended here at WordPress!

Even you, Merby! And please don't slap the shit out of me if you don't win!

Even you, Merby! And please don’t slap the shit out of me if you don’t win!

May the best and luckiest blogger win!  Good luck to all!

But you have to have a blog? Bummer. I had a plan and everything. I have rainbow fabric. 😦

    • Well, I guess I could allow my BB’s to play, though I’d have to post their entries myself. Is your idea something that can be done in 3 weeks?

      • Christie1111 says:

I will have to think about it. I saw a pattern over the holidays that had a reindeer that I thought could be made in to a unicorn but I will need to go find it.

  2. NotAPunkRocker says:

This is absolutely the best contest ever!

  3. This contest is MINE, mine I say. Possums, squirrels, and unicorns? Can there also be a sad pony? Or I could make a sad possum. Oh, the possibilities!

  4. A squirrel, a possum and a unicorn go into a bar…
I’m going to take the challenge. I can’t wait to see what your diverse blogging friends come up with.

  5. dogfordavid says:

very cool 🙂 I am going to see if David would like to do something for ya 🙂

  6. Mental Mama says:

One of your squirrels on a thong… Wow, thanks for helping with my diet today.

  7. I love the idea, but it’s bad timing for me. I will enjoy watching the other entires, though. This should be very entertaining.

    • I think it will be fun to see what everyone comes up with! Of course, you could always throw together something quickie to get in on the random drawing… but if not, there is plenty of room in the bleachers!

  8. What a fun contest! I’ll have Hodge and Podge get right on it. 🙂

  9. The Cutter says:

I’mma try to be all creative and win this jawn.

  10. djmatticus says:

    Only one entree per contestant?
Do I get some kind of bonus because you recently won one of my contests?
Hmm, it will definitely be fiction from me, but how to fit in a squirrel, a possum, and a unicorn? And, should it be silly, or dark, or both or neither? Gah! Too many choices. Ideas flying all over the place, brain about to pop…
*please hold and enjoy this lovely elevator music while we try to reboot the commentor….*
    What just happened?
I forget what I was saying, but, yeah, hooray for a contest!

OH WHAT FUN!! excuse me for shouting and now I am getting busy! Also I am very looking forward to seeing what others will do. 😀

  12. draliman says:

Ooh, I want the thong, I want the thong. I don’t really, I’ll have something else when I win 🙂
I’ll put my thinking cap on and hope my imminent loss of internet doesn’t scupper my chances 😦

  13. Lynda says:

All three little friends in one creation! Hm… will have to put on my thinking cap for this challenge! BTW, I promised you a surprise, and I posted it, but you seem to have missed it? 😉

Good grief. I pressed enter and my comment appeared to have spontaneously combusted, so I retyped it, and now it is there again. There must be a hiccup on the net . LOL! 😛
