I’m in the large section of the country that is having to put up with a rain-soaked, nasty All Hallow’s Eve, but that hasn’t stopped me from my somewhat annual tradition of the Squirrel O’Lantern! You can see my past designs in my post from last Halloween. This year, I decided to also pay tribute to my blog’s biggest rising star, and carved the scene you see in the image above into this year’s pumpkin (Actually, I carved the pumpkin first, then drew the cartoon art it represented… I do things the hard way!)
What do you think?
Rain or shine clear skies, it’s going on the porch tonight. Hopefully at least a few brave trick or treaters will stop by for some of my Easter Fun Dips and other leftover candy I’ve accumulated since last Halloween. I’m sure it’ll get some interesting comments….
That is an impressive work of carving.
Thank you! I am still amazed that I didn’t break off any of the thin parts while trying to do the delicate carving…
Very nice ES. Do you grumble at the kids while you pass out Mary Janes?
I love giving out candy I wasn’t going to eat anyway. I only grumbled at the douchebag last year who swore my squirrel o’lantern was carved using a pattern…
Now that’s an excellently carved pumpkin!
There are many art media I totally suck at, but I amaze myself with how well I can handle the punkin….
I’m thinking I need to hire you to come carve ours next year!
As long as I can pet Goatacus, we may have a deal….
He’d demand to be pet! And picked up and carried around lol
Great pumpkins. That is so cute!
Also smiling at the picture of Miss. Beautiful Red Squirrel and Rainbow Donkey.
Thank you! I’m not sure I’ve ever paired those two before, but it worked out well for Halloween!
You are such a kidder! I think you pretend to be aloof about this holiday and the kids’ feelings, but I bet you are passing out nice treats tonight! I am off to pick up our dinner to go, from dining room. We had a fun costume party at Mom’s senior living apts. I wore Halloween clothes (black pants and top with a pumpkin vest) and an orange Easter hat, no kidding! Mom has tons of hats up in her closets! Such fun!
LOL. I really do give out my unwanted candy, but nothing that isn’t any good anymore. In fact, I cleaned out all the old stuff beforehand, throwing away some Christmas candy Is still had from a few years ago!!! Yum!
Looks great
Thanks!
if they gave out awards for pumpkin sculpture you would take them all out. love the idea of Miss Red dressed as a witch and riding on rainbow donkey. Such fun! 🙂
Oh, I’ve seen some pumpkin carving that would put my humble work to shame, but I’ll bet nobody can quite carve a donkicorn in a punkin like I can! And witches need to get with the times and realize that a unicorn is the only way to fly!
I had to buy new sweets this year because the ones from two years ago have finally gone out of date. And who came round trick or treating?
No-one. That’s who 😦
Impressive carving job!
Thank you! After a quiet start, I managed to give out most of my bowl. I was giving out such big handfuls that a lot of it was spilling out onto the porch. Now I can build up the bowl again for next year…. well, maybe not since I’m not usually home on Friday evenings!
You are an artist. Very creative.
Thank you. As I kind of expected, it got two nice compliments from passerbys and one “WTF is that?” from a little kid dressed as a cowboy. The comments are what keeps the squirrel o lantern tradition alive for me!
Wow cool! Very impressive too 🙂
