It’s time to mark another day in the countdown to Christmas with a little help from the gang at The Nest. Let’s see who turns up to usher in the second day of our Shelf Critter Advent Calendar! We’re going to see what’s behind Door #2, and hopefully it isn’t a zonk…
Well, lookie there! It’s the Sponkies! Those wonderful gifts from The Nest’s Hall of Fame follower Gentlestitches. Tell us, Sponkies, what does Christmas mean to both of you?
SPONKIE 2: Christmas means it’s time to hit the beach!
SPONKIE 1: We are from Australia after all. What’s all this rubbish about a “winter wonderland” we hear about?
SPONKIE 2: Don’t know, bro! But I think it’s time for me to hang ten with my two new friends I found!
MERMAID: Glub glub! (Choke!)
SPONKIE 1: Don’t you think your friends would be more at home if you put them back in the water, Sis?
SPONKIE 2: Nah! I’ve got a jar I can fill with water and put them in!
DOLPHIN: Help! (Glub!) Greenpeace!
SPONKIE 2: They can help me poke holes in the lid!
oh I wish we could have an australian christmas… no snow no rain but sun… on the other hand it is hard to hide all sins under a bikini… sweaters are better for that
Wear the bikini over the sweater. Nobody will know how sinful you have been…
No “zonks” – just “sponks” ! I miss GentleStitches and hope she’s still stitching up the wonderful things she made. My “Sammy bag” has pride of place here in my office – Love your DAY TWO – the beach sounds pretty good to me!
Pam
It’s a double Aunt Sharon post since she also crocheted the Santa hat the one Sponkie is wearing! I miss her fun and thoughtful comments on all of my posts…. I think she would have loved Shelf Critter Theatre!
This calendar gets more and more interesting! lol
And there’s still 22 more days (and critters) to go…..
Ha! Perhaps you should send the Sponkies out here for a real taste of winter. Minus the wonderland. ❄️
Aussies may be tough… but I don’t think they’re ready for Colorado winter.
I must send to the sponkies some snow, cold and dark in a box. In Australia they have no idea how this ” winter wonderland” feels, when walking outside in a snow storm in darkness with wind from Siberia.
Ha! That reminds me of one of my old comic strips…
So true, it would melt and what they said of America…I love this strip. I would like to live on an island where they swear ” Holy papayas”.
Poor mermaid and dolphin, naughty Sponkies.
Winter wouldn’t feel right without the shitty weather,,,
It wouldn’t. That’s what I tell the nose thumbers who live in California and like to point out that it’s 70 degrees in January. I’ll laugh when the whole state breaks off into the ocean after an earthquake…
Oh dear. It looks like Dolphin and Mermaid won’t be having such a Merry Christmas. The Sponkies should find a snow globe to put them in. I think I would prefer life in a snow globe over Christmas in summer. It even sounds better than Christmas with the depressing, boring weather we have here.
You would probably end up being stuck in a rain globe. At least Rainy would want to join you, though I’m not sure that would be a good idea within a confined space….
Lol! No, as much as I like Rainy I wouldn’t want to share a confined space with her!
